After watching the movie "Glory!", write a one or two page essay on the film. Some of the scenes are listed below to help you remember what happened. Be sure to address the following in your essay:
- Choose one character then describe that person. Discuss challenges he faced, discuss changes or growth he made.
- What did you like and/or dislike about the film? Offer reasons for your opinion(s).
- List examples of discrimination that the 54th faced and offer examples of how they overcame those obstacles.
- What was the 54th's goals and did they meet those goals? In your opinion, was the final attack successful?

- the men's first meeting in the tent
- tough Irish drill sergeant pushing the soldiers hard
- at night in the rain, the announcement they'd be killed if they were captured
- clowning around while training on the rifle range and the Col. fires the pistol by Jupiter's head
- Maj. Forbes questioning the Colonel on pushing the men too hard
- "desertion" by Tripp and his whipping
- going to the quartermaster's office and demanding he give them shoes
- announcement they'd get $10 instead of $13/month
- on the boat, Rawlins' promotion to Sgt. Maj.
- raiding and burning the Georgia town
- not being allowed to fight, but being reserved to manual labor
- at night around the camp, Trip being told off by Sgt. Rawlins
- in the fancy room, the Col. blackmails the higher officer by threatening to turn him in for pillaging and raiding unless they get to go to real battle
- the first battle (when they were in the woods fighting) when Thomas ("Snowflake") gets shot
- standing beside the river when Colonel asks Trip to carry the flag
- singing and praying around the campfire the night before the major battle
- the last battle where they try to take Ft. Wagner
