You are to make a graphic novel (comic book).Your topic is an American family and the things they go through during:
the Roaring 20's
the Great Depression of the 30's
WWII of the 40's
Mr. Crump's thoughts:
This can be a group project (3 to 5 people might be good for this).
Come up with your family members.
Brainstorm your storyline. Remember, a good story has a beginning, middle and end.
Beginning: A cover page and a page to introduce your family.
Middle: Should cover the 20's, 30's, and WWII. What happens in the 20's and on which family member(s) will you focus? What about the 30's and WWII?
End: Try to bring things back together--wrap up any loose ends and bring the family together again so the reader feels the story is over.
Think about continuity. Ideally, you'll have the same people pictured throughout the story to make it continuous. Possible ways to do this:
Include yourself in the story with your on picture. Use the webcam on the laptop. Your clothes won't be right, but you can use a close up.
Choose a famous person so you'll get lots of different pics. Maybe choose an actor/actress that was in a movie during that time period--you'll get pics with the correct clothes and background.
Use different people but label them as if they were the same person.
Use "Comic Life" on your computer to make the book.
Ultimately, we want the entire thing on one Comic Life file. To merge a page (or more) from one person's computer onto another person's computer:
Choose whose computer will be the main one (we'll call it computer A).
On computer B, save what you've got then transfer that file to computer A using a flash drive.
On computer A, open up the new file and simply copy everything on the page. Choose EDIT and SELECT ALL to make sure to copy everything.
Then start a new page and simply paste your stuff in there.
