The American government is referred to as a "republic." A republic is a democratic government where citizens elect public servants or representatives to run the government for the people. These representatives may be Senators, Representatives in the House, Governors, Mayors, Councilmembers, or the President. But, they all have one thing in common--they are elected. That's what this project is all about--getting votes!
