You're going to write a poem. You'll assume either the mainstream or beatnik side.

1. To "get the feel" for things, take a look at these sources: 50's culture and Beat generation and the poem Howl
2. Write a poem (it doesn't have to rhyme). 
3. Your poem's purpose: state why the other side is so dumb/dorky/loser-ish/etc AND why your style is the way to go.
4. For bonus points, read your poem to the class when you're done.
