Poem 1

The beat generation was a major hit.

Men on motorcycles, NOT mothers with cooking mits.

When cruising down the street listening to rock n roll,

we speed up and laugh at the family with the matching sweaters made of wool;

not caring what other people say, we drop out with a grade that's definitely not an A.

Now hey we ain't all that bad, although I do have a way of making my father mad.

We do attend functions that proper families will never approve.

I swear my parents drive me crazy,

I refuse to take out the trash and so they call me lazy. Now tell me,

what makes them so special? Eating dinner together,

or maybe talking about the so called beautiful weather?

Poem 2

Those kids, ignorant kids that don't appreciate what

is being offered to them by this well educated society.

Instead of being honored to have and live in a happy

family they decide to call themselves rebels with their

so-called Beat Generation. Those who choose to abandon

our ways of life to live such lazy lives will always end

up doing drugs and involved in crimes. But we are not

like that not will my children be. We will live as a family and

our children will attend school and behave as it its supposed

to be and will be treated as our fathers and grandfathers

taught us when we were little kids. These people that

call themselves men and women are nothing more than wild

closed-minded ignorant kids who think society is

nothing but trash, as they find it hard to keep up with it.

Those kids need to be put in their places and more strict

with them we should be, so that they learn to appreciate

our society.

Poem 3

I wanna hit the road.

Listen to music loud,

don't wanna watch TV.

I need to be free

from my Philistine family.

I gotta rock,

feel rock 'n roll with my soul.

I don't need a backyard pool,

swimming in the ocean is twice as cool.

And the fools,

they keep working and buying,

but they're not free

like me.

Maybe I'm a drop out

but I sing twice as loud,

And I'm proud.

no rules,

no restrictions,

no constraints,

no fear,

just freedom, that's me.

Poem 4

I raised him right...

or at least I thought.

I taught him well...

so I say.

But as I sit here

contemplating the finer things in life

all I see is him...

my imperfection.

My shame

all comes from his actions...

& he?

he does not care about this family.

He wants his melodies.

his devilish rhythms.

he has made his choice

& he will live with his choice & his music forever.

Poem 5

My oh my, those Beats are going wild!

I don't know why, they choose that life.

Man oh man, I'd rather stay at home.

Change of plan, My family and I are going out.

Fun oh fun, We order some pop and talk.

We have to run, those Beats are ruining our fun.

Brother oh brother, they're too crazy for society.

Mother oh mother, why do they do such strange things?
