You are a cartographer (map maker) in the 1800's. The president has charged you with making a map of the U.S. west of the Mississippi River. Page 296 of your textbook could be used as a reference.

Things to include:

1. states & territories west of the Mississippi River
2. major trails westward
3. major rivers 
4. mountains and mountain passes 
5. major cities
6. forts 

You can trace the map if you like or you can draw it. Start with the outline first, then go from there.

Make it "look old" if you wish. Coffee/tea/soy sauce stains give it that old timey look (and a nice smell).
