After watching the film "Glory!", write an essay that addresses the following...

1. Each of the main characters went through some type of growth during the film. Which character did you like best and why? How did that person grow or change?
2. There are several powerful scenes in the film. Which scene stands out to you and why?
3. In the final battle, the 54th lost badly. Do you think the efforts of the men were wasted? Did they achieve their goals? Why or why not?

Key scenes: tough training, no one leaving when told they'd be killed if captured, Trip being whipped, Col. Shaw getting shoes for the troops, the men tearing up their paychecks, Rawlins is given a promotion to Sgt. Major, raiding and burning the Southern town, Sgt. Maj. Rawlins telling off Trip, their first battle (in the woods), the men singing and praying the night before the big battle, the final battle scene on Ft. Wagner.
